Become a citizen scientist with the Nature in the City Biodiversity Project!

Are you interested in surveying for birds and butterflies or bees around Fort Collins this summer? Become a Citizen Scientist Volunteer with the Natural Areas’ Nature in the City Biodiversity Project! This free program is open to anyone 18 or older (children can accompany adult participants). The goal is to enlist the help of Fort Collins citizens to collect long-term ecological data that will support the Nature in the City Strategic Plan to maintain "a connected open space network accessible to the entire community that provides a variety of experiences and functional habitat for people, plants, and wildlife."

No previous bird, butterfly or bee identification skills are necessary - we will teach you all you need to know! Participants will attend one 2-hour training session in mid-May, complete their first monitoring survey with a Program Leader, and conduct three additional gokkasten surveys throughout the summer.

To sign up, visit https://naturetracker.fcgov.com/VolunteerApplication to fill out the application – be sure to check Citizen Science under Volunteer Interests!
